A slightly different post today. Just for once, no wrestling or boxing. This week I published my first book, “The Virgin and the Conqueror – the Kings and Queens of England 1066-1603”. The book is based upon my studies at the University of London and is aimed at anybody that would like to know more about England in the medieval and early modern periods but particularly those with little to no knowledge of the period. If you are planning to take an A-level, AS-level or even a degree in history and are new to this period then you should find it an invaluable aid to getting the basics down. Similarly, if you have ever wondered just what the Hundred Years War was all about, how the Black Death affected England or who won the Wars of the Roses then this is the book for you. It contains biographies of all of England’s kings and queens from William the Conqueror to Elizabeth I and many more important people, such as Francis Drake, Thomas More and William Marshal, as well as a fairly thorough list of all the major battles that helped shape English history.
